I did a bit of shopping today for next week; it's my turn to host the monthly DAR luncheon. Anyway, I was heading to Whole Foods, and some absolute moron in a van pulled right out in front of me to only pull into the very next drive -- a McDonald's, at that -- and my car wound up fishtailing, I was laying down on my brakes so hard. It was terrifying, and then just plain infuriating.
A few miles down the road, after I'd stopped off at the bank, the same van cut me off in the turning lane! I have never experienced road rage before, but I was beyond angry at that point.
At least I got a lot of my shopping done. I'm having someone come over to prepare everything, but I do enjoy the shopping part. I like testing the freshness and smelling the fruits and vegetables. I only wish I had the time available to prepare the food, too.
Ash Wednesday is tomorrow, and I'm considering what exactly I'd like to give up for Lent. Is anyone else having any difficulties?

I love Christmas. The house looks a bit like St. Nick vomitted holly and red bows everywhere, but I really do adore it! It's tasteful, of course. I cannot stand the way some folks' homes look around this time of year.
In fact, a house just a block or so down is so bright I can see the glow just looking to the east. Some people just can't be subtle; they have to outdo everyone and be bigger, flashier, blinkier. Uglier.
All we've put outside are wreaths on the windows, hanging by wide, red, velvet ribbons. I like it that way. Inside there are plenty of sprigs of mistletoe and such, but that's for my own joy; I don't decorate my yard to show it off to the neighborhood.
I think I'll lock myself in the downstairs den with a few Holiday movies, some peppermint cocktails, and all the gifts that I have yet to wrap. Boys, no peeking. ;)
